Do you find yourself in need of neck relief? It’s a common problem that can be caused by poor posture, stress, or spending long hours sitting in front of a computer screen.
The good news is that there are simple breathing techniques that can help alleviate this discomfort and promote relaxation.
So what’s the connection between breathing and tension in the neck? When we’re stressed or anxious, we tend to hold our breath or take shallow breaths. This can lead to tension in the neck and shoulders.
By practicing deep breathing techniques, we can promote relaxation and neck relief.
In today’s video, Ian will guide you through a short class that focuses on breathing techniques that can help relieve neck tension.
To begin, find a comfortable position.
We recommend a rolled-up towel or pillow under the neck to restore the natural curve in the neck.
What To Consider For Neck Relief
During class, breathe in through the nose silently, without caring where the air goes, and exhale with a foggy sigh. Try to get more air out on each exhale, but avoid stress and panic.
To relax the neck, let’s keep the mouth sealed during inhales. Take a few exhales out through the nose and try to hold your breath for one to five seconds after exhaling.
Pay attention to areas of tension in the body and try to relax them. Let go and feel your neck release.
Exhale for even longer and slower on the next round of breaths, but continue to incorporate breath holds. The goal is to learn how to breathe in a relaxed manner, without using the neck or feeling stressed.
We hope you feel great after the breathing session!
